Thirty years of artistic mastery come together in the solo exhibition ‘Presence in Process – 30 Years of Art and Craft at Studio Claudy Jongstra’ at Cuypershuis in Roermond. Previously unseen studies, small experimental works, and unique pieces from Jongstra’s archive are presented alongside her signature tapestries, iconic collaborations, and new works created for Cuypershuis. Together, the exhibition offers a layered and multifaceted overview of the internationally renowned artist's oeuvre.
The exhibition focuses on Jongstra's material studies and experiments, colour charts, and sketches. Her research into centuries-old textile techniques such as ajour and guipure, her use of natural materials and pigments, and her experiments with tactility and texture reflect the ongoing curiosity and innovation that drives her creative vision.
Cuypershuis is the former workshops of Pierre Cuypers, a designer and architect who championed traditional crafts and techniques in his work and encouraged collaboration with artisans. Jongstra's exhibition resonates strongly with this history.
