The exhibition Herinner je de Vrouwen (Remember the Women) delves into the history and current state of women's emancipation in the Netherlands. The rights and freedoms we now take for granted were won at a rapid pace over recent decades. Who fought for the rights to safe abortion, childcare, and equal participation in the workforce? Who is fighting today for political representation and greater knowledge about the female body, and against femicide? What drives them to take to the barricades or work for change behind the scenes?
The exhibition, which has already travelled to Eindhoven, The Hague, and Utrecht, features portraits and stories of fifteen key figures who have shaped the course of women's emancipation in the Netherlands. The exhibition in The Hague was expanded with stories and photographs of women who are making a difference through their work in the city.
