Kamp Erika, by Hester ten Boer. Kamp Erika (Concentration Camp Erika) is the account of a personal quest into the horrific history of this almost forgotten German concentration camp, located in the woods near Ommen. The prisoners, primarily non-Jewish men, were guarded here not by Germans, but by Dutch guards. Torture and excessive violence were commonplace, and at least 180 prisoners died. After the war, a campsite was established on the site of the camp – as if nothing had happened.
